Galapagos Islands Land Tours

Two hundred years ago, Charles Darwin had no choice but to tour the Galapagos by boat. Today Red Mangrove offers you the thrill of touring the Galapagos while staying in the comfort of our ecologically integrated and stylish lodges. Our action packed, land based programs will take you to three islands through the mysteries of time. Surround yourself in water and savor what is above it. Experience what the earth looked like before man walked the planet.

We offer unforgettable five, six and eight day Galapagos Islands land tours as well as daily dive and custom tours. Our Darwin triangle tour, begins the moment you step off the plane and ferry across the Santa Cruz Island, to check in at our Aventura Lodge. In the afternoon, our experienced guide will take you to snorkel with tropical fish off the boat. Swim near the beach, and take a leisurely hike through the cactus forest, that is home to marine iguana colonies. After a good nights sleep in the comfort of our main lodge, you'll wake up refreshed for a morning tour to the highlands where you will visit the gentile giants of the Galapagos roaming freely, and explore two of Santa Cruz's most awe inspiring sights, Los Gemelos, and an extraordinary lava tunnel with 20 foot ceilings.

In the afternoon will leave to the historical island of Floreana. Here we will cruise through a cove, snorkel, and scout for extraordinary marine wildlife. As dusk sets in, we'll check into the lodge. You'll enjoy sharing highlights of the day over a delicious home cooked barbeque dinner with new friends. Falling slave to the gentle laugh of the ocean waves is the perfect way to unwind at the end of the day.

After awakening to an island-fresh morning, we will take an open-air bus to the highlands of Floreana and hike to a location where pirates carved temporary shelters out of soft stone. Mid day, we leave for the island of Isabella arriving in a port that is visual feast, with stunning green and turquoise water, teaming with friendly sea lions and other marine wildlife. After some midday downtime, we'll board a smaller craft and head to a bay view Blue Footed Boobies, Galapagos penguins, and white tipped reef sharks. The experience of walking across a craggy jet black lava fuel buoyed in an emule green sea, is not easily forgotten.

Once we return to the dock, you'll enjoy snorkeling in the shallow bay. Sierra negra is a real highlight! Four-wheel drive vehicles will drive us up to the highlands that are the slopes of the volcano. Here we will hike to continue our journey. After a gorgeous walk, we marvel to the expanse of the caldera of the Sierra Negra, the second largest caldera in the world!

Returning to Red Mangrove Isabella Lodge we'll have a free afternoon. Our deck, overlooking over the beautiful white sand beach, is a picture perfect place to relax. On our final morning, we will drive out of town along two miles to a pristine white sand beach and hike to the top of a volcanic hill that gives guests 360 degree vistas. Farther along, we'll visit the historical Muro de las Lagrimas, the remains of a prison that was built by prisoners when Isabella was a prison colony.

Late morning and it's time to set sail back to Santa Cruz. After lunch at the lodge we'll head off for a final visit, a guided tour of the Charles Darwin research station, where you'll learn about conservation efforts in the Galapagos Islands. We at Red Mangrove know how privileged we are to share the responsibility of being global gardens of one of the most unique and fragile eco systems on earth. We make every effort to operate all our lodges according to principles of sustainability.

The Galapagos are not only unique but one of the few destinations on earth where guests do not have to give up refinement, amenities, or adventure in order to be in harmony with the environment. We invite you to join us on an unforgettable Galapagos Island tour with Red Mangrove.
