Itinerary

Day 1

In the morning, your flight brings you to the Island of Baltra. From here we take a short ferry ride to the island of Santa Cruz. After lunch at the Aventura lodge, we head to Loberia for an Academy Bay dive. We start with a dive to check our tanks and enjoy our first glimpse at the wondrous underworld of the Galapagos. This is a magical place teaming with tropical fish and where sightings of flirtatious sea lions, manta rays, and white tipped reef sharks are common. We return to the Aventura Lodge and have a group dinner.

Day 2

We enjoy breakfast at the lodge before heading out to dive off the coast of Santa Cruz. Some of the many species living here include a variety of eels, blue and gold snappers, manta rays, stingrays, hammerheads, flag cabrilla, yellowtail surgeonfish, cardinal fish, frog fish, nudibranch, sea turtles, barracuda, Galapagos shark, heiroglyphic hawkfish, along with many other unique and beautiful creatures. We return to the hotel for lunch, then return to the harbor to continue on to the island of Floreana. The boat ride takes approximately two hours depending on the sea. Once on Floreana, we walk to Black Beach, a stunning location where we swim, snorkel or just relax and soak in the beauty. We experience a traditional Galapagueña BBQ food at a local restaurant and have the opportunity to speak with the owners who were among the first European immigrants to arrive on the island decades ago. They share stories and more about the Floreana mystery. At the end of a fun evening we walk back to the Floreana Lodge for the night.

Day 3

The same local restaurant provides breakfast and then we head out to dive off the coast of Floreana. Here we have the chances to see a variety of native and visiting species including spotfin, king angelfish, burrfish, white-tipped reef sharks, hammerheads, tiger snake eels, sea stars, creolefish, scopionfish, marbled rays and many more. We enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then walk along the beautiful landscape of the island to "la lobería," a breathtaking setting where sea lions frolic. There is time for more snorkeling, relaxing on the beach or on the deck of your cabin. Later on, in the early evening we again have dinner in town.

Day 4

Breakfast is served at a local restaurant. We spend another morning diving along Floreana's diverse coast, finding new species and sea world habitats. We then sail to Isabela, leaving at 11 AM. Arriving approximately two hours later, we enter a beautiful bay, and before even putting your dive gear on, you can see straight into the clear water and observe sea life from above: sea lions, sea turtles and the Galapagos penguins, who may be fishing, or just having a good time. We have a delicious lunch at the Red Mangrove Lodge.

Our next adventure takes us to "Las Tintoreras" an island near the coast, and home to colonies of Galapagos penguins and blue-footed boobies. We disembark and walk through the dramatic, fierce terrain of volcanic remnants. Marine iguanas lay about, squirting salt out their nose and warming up after their impressive dives. A narrow channel is the common resting spot for white-tipped reef sharks and provides a great viewing opportunity for us. From Tintoreras, we look back to Isabela and a dramatic scene of looming volcanoes, deep greens of the mangrove forests and the sapphire sea. Before departing we may spend some time snorkeling for a chance to see the white-tipped reef sharks, sea lions and penguins. Back at the lodge you have time to shower and rest before dinner.

Day 5

The lodge serves breakfast. After, we leave for Quatro Hermanos where we do two dives. Creatures that frequent this area include sea horses, blue-chin parrotfish, Galapagos groupers, bumphead parrotfish, Glapagos sheephead, grey grunts, harlequin wrasse, corals, tuna and many more. Occasionally sunfish make a special appearance. We head back to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon is yours to do as you please. The lodge sits in front of an incredible beach, over 3 ½ kilometers long and Puerto Villamil may be explored on foot or by bike, provided by the lodge. We regroup for dinner at the lodge.

Day 6

After breakfast, we return to Quatro Hermanos for two more great dives, providing us the chance to see different species and get to know this sea world a little better. Lunch will be back at the lodge and you will once again have the afternoon to explore Isabela at your leisure.

Day 7

The lodge will provide breakfast before we begin our tour of Humedales (the wetlands). The short drive takes us along the lovely beach, scattered with palm trees. We begin our walk at the National Park boundary and continue up Cerro Orchilla, providing stellar views of the island below. We continue to "Muro de Las Lagrimas" or 'Wall of Tears' that was painfully constructed by the prisoners held here decades ago. Lava lizards scatter the paths. We return to the lodge for lunch before leaving this beautiful island to travel by boat about two hours to the island of Santa Cruz.

Day 8

On your last day of the Galapagos Islands diving tour, breakfast will be served at the lodge. We then return to Baltra, arriving one and a half hours before the flight that will take you back to the mainland.
